The Toledo Northwestern Ohio Food Bank has emerged as a force in the fight against hunger, serving an expansive 8-county area including Defiance, Fulton, Henry, Lucas, Ottawa, Sandusky, Williams, and Wood counties. At its inception, the organization operated out of a modest facility in South Toledo, equipped with just one truck and one computer.

Despite humble beginnings, the Food Bank quickly gained momentum, driven by a steadfast commitment to its core mission to end hunger in Northwestern Ohio. Over the years, this mission has remained steadfast, guiding the organization's efforts to not only provide immediate relief through food distribution but also to address the underlying causes of food insecurity through education and empowerment initiatives.

In 2002

the Food Bank underwent a significant transition, relocating from its original location at 359 Hamilton Street to its current headquarters at 24 E. Woodruff Avenue. This move marked a pivotal moment in the organization's history, enabling it to expand its reach and impact across the region. Today, the Food Bank operates out of a 25,000 square feet main warehouse, complemented by a 30,000 square feet storage facility and a comprehensive Hunger Center located in North Toledo.

The Hunger Center serves as a beacon of hope for individuals and families facing food insecurity, offering a choice pantry, teaching kitchen, and multiple outreach/program spaces. Through these three facilities, the Food Bank provides essential food and grocery products to nearly 200 local food pantries, hot meal programs, shelters, mobile pantries, programs for the elderly, and other nonprofit agencies annually.

The Hunger Center

In addition to its robust food distribution network, the Food Bank spearheads a range of hunger-relief programs designed to promote healthy families and communities. These initiatives include childhood hunger programs, nutrition education, cooking classes, healthcare partnerships, and benefits outreach efforts aimed at connecting individuals with vital resources and support services.
