The Hunger Center houses all of the Toledo Northwestern Ohio Food Bank’s direct service programs, operating seamlessly within the framework of the larger organization. While the Food Bank orchestrates strategic initiatives and regional programs to combat hunger on a broader scale, the Hunger Center plays a pivotal role in implementing direct, community-focused interventions.
Harvest Market Pantry
At our Harvest Market Pantry, we prioritize dignity and empowerment by offering clients the opportunity to select their own groceries. This unique model allows individuals and families to choose items that best suit their preferences and dietary needs, ensuring that they receive food they will truly enjoy and utilize. We believe that everyone deserves access to healthy, wholesome food, and our Choice Food Pantry reflects our commitment to making this vision a reality.
Senior Program
Our Senior Program is tailored to meet the unique challenges faced by older adults, ensuring they have access to nourishing meals and essential nutrition resources. We offer a variety of initiatives including meal assistance programs, nutrition education workshops, and access to fresh produce markets. By fostering a supportive environment and offering personalized assistance, we aim to improve the overall health and well-being of seniors in our community. Join us in building a stronger, healthier future for our elderly population, where hunger is alleviated, and nutritional needs are met with compassion and care.
Food Farmacy Program
Our Food Farmacy Program brings fresh food to patients and their families, along with cooking demonstrations, health and wellness workshops, and more. We collaborate with local health providers to increase patient access to healthy, culturally relevant meals. The program helps families gain a better awareness of the direct relationship between diet, nutrition, and health outcomes. The program provides clients with the skills and resources necessary to incorporate healthier foods into their diet through simple recipes.
“Far beyond a mere distribution site, our Hunger Center embodies a holistic approach to combating food insecurity. Here, we've crafted a space where education, empowerment, and direct service programs converge to create lasting solutions.”
SNAP Outreach Program
Our SNAP Outreach Program offers SNAP pre-screening and application support to individuals and families who are not currently enrolled in SNAP.
